I am a west coast Canadian writer from Vancouver Island.

Although I am relatively new to online writing I did work as a newspaper reporter/photographer for several years on and off while studying writing at the University of Victoria.

Recently (for the past six years) I worked as a cook in a crisis stabilization house for adults experiencing mental health and drug and/or alcohol related issues.

Prior to that I worked as a floral clerk in a grocery store.

For the past 20 years I have been self-employed doing landscape gardening where it fit it in around other jobs.

While taking some time off work lately, I was pleasantly surprised and excited to discover Hub Pages.

The writing community here is good support for a wanna be writer. There is so much information sharing going on I feel like I'm back in school.
